the chef jeff project

a true inspiration hit my tv tonight. and believe it or not, it was on the food network. chef jeff, a former drug dealer who spent years in jail, found his calling in the prison kitchen. opening up his own catering company -- urban cuisine -- he is bringing six at-risk young adults into the kitchen to change their lives and give them hope for the future.

the first show tonight was outstanding, inspirational and truly worthy of the watch. i can't imagine what it's like to have a record, to be a drug addict, to not be able to get a job...but i do know people who have chosen different paths and had to work their way back to even. these people have a long road ahead of them, but with chef jeff in the driver's seat, they're going to make it to culinary school.

i can't help while watching ponder the fact that one more person has found their passion, developed an idea and put it in play in an intriguing way...for this reason, the chef jeff project gives me hope. i see a man who has accomplished so much. i'd like to ask him how long it took him to come up with this idea, did it happen overnight, one day in the shower, because a friend came up with the idea, etc?

i try to imagine what it's like to not only do what you love but help people in the process. this is a situation that inspires....

truly an inspiration. congratulations chef jeff to a wonderful idea and a great delivery. i look forward to being inspired again next week. bon appetite...or should i simply say...good eating!
